Happy New Years!
Hey there everyone and welcome back! I hope everyone's holiday was as fun and relaxing as mine was, opened presents, chilled with family and friends, ect and so on. If you are going out tonight or are already be safe and have fun, if you are not going out that is alright, because while I was away the movie news has piled up and its time to break it down!
New Amazing Spiderman 2 trailer??
That is right...we got some new footage of our favorite web slinging superhero facing off against Electro in Times Square...now I do not know about anyone else but I was already plenty excited for this movie without the extra footage/trailer. I'm not sure if I like all the extended trailers we get now a days that sometimes can account for 30 mins of a movie by the tie it comes out...which personally for me ruins my enjoyment. Anyways, I loved the trailer kept me excited for the movie, got me to laugh and although I just rambled a little, 2 trailers is not enough to ruin it for me!
Guardians of the Galaxy Poster?
"From Marvel, the studio that brought you the blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team - the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. Th evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits - Rocket, a gun loving raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy's fate in the balance. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures."
Here is our first look at the Guardians in an official release from Marvel. I am not a comic follower as some may know by now so I don't know a whole lot about these characters from Marvel, but as a lover of superhero movies and a serious lover of what Marvel has given us so far...I trust them with whatever they bring to me until they release a stinker. Now I may not be a huge comic follower but I did some research on these heroes, so here we go...
Start with the far left shall we...Gamora, a badass green alien played by Zoe Saldana. The actress explained on the panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July, the character is a hardcore assassin and possesses superhuman strength, agility, speed and healing. She is an adopted daughter of the evil Thanos – the big purple dude featured in the end credits of The Avengers - but starts a new life for herself with the Guardians of the Galaxy fighting with the good guys.
Continuing right we have...Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, played by Parks and Recreation’s Chris Pratt. Despite his looks, he is actually half (mother)human and half alien(father). Also a master strategist and problem solver who is an expert in close quarter combat. When he was a kid he was taken away from Earth and never looked back. He spends his days trying to be a Han Solo-type smuggler, but, like Gamora, finds a new path thanks to his new group of friends.
Now to the middle of the picture... Rocket Raccoon may be a lot shorter than his Guardians of the Galaxy teammates, but underestimating him would be a big mistake. Voiced by Bradley Cooper, Rocket is one of a kind, as he was just a normal raccoon before being kidnapped and undergoing experimental medical treatments. As his name implies, he is a big fan of explosions and weaponry, and of all the members in the group his closest bond is with Groot for various reasons.
Second from the right...This body builder of an alien is Drax The Destroyer, played by wrestler Dave Bautista. In the comics the character began his life as an ordinary human named Arthur Douglas who saw his entire family killed at the hands of Thanos. Needing somebody to help fight the evil titan, a cosmic energy known as Kronos takes Douglas’ spirit and puts it into a powerful alien body. He’s not only incredibly strong but he is also incredibly skilled with a knife.
And finally we have...Groot. If you look at this character and think to yourself, "Man, that looks like a tree from Lord of the Rings," then you have little to no sense of humor. Groot is an alien of the species Flora colossus, and is the strongest member (and in some cases immortal) of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He has the ability to change his size and can absorb wood to become even stronger than he is naturally. He also has genius-level intelligence, but due to serious injury he is only able to say "I am Groot", Vin Diesel, is voicing the character.
And there you have it, your information on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy heroes. I expect to see everyone there for what should be another amazing Marvel movie!
Winter Soldier!
This new still hit the web giving us a glimpse at Robert Redford's character in the upcoming Captain America the Winter Soldier. According to reports and assumptions this Marvel take on the continued Captains adventures in the modern world should play out much like a spy movie. I am not sure if that's a good thing or not but hey, I haven't seen the film yet. This is not the only still we were blessed with this holiday week we also got a new shot of the Winter Soldier holding the Captains shield.
Pretty badass if you ask me!
Disney's Frozen catching Iron Man 3?
Alright the title over sold it a little, but it is true that Frozen has broken the $500 mil mark coming ever closer to Iron Man 3's box office success. Disney has been tearing it up this year, and they'll be starting 2014 strong with their beautiful hit Frozen still in theaters. While it was edged out of the top spot by The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug this past weekend, the latest Disney princess tale has not only been a hit with critics, but also scored huge with audiences. Already, Frozen has earned a whopping $500 million worldwide after just six weeks in theaters. This grand total makes it the fourth Disney film to have hit this milestone this year. Its predecessors here are Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Monsters University. Why is this movie so successful though? In my opinion its because the word of mouth has been outstanding for it, the critics loved it, the audience loves it, its a great film for everyone and the best animated movie since The Lion King and Finding Nemo.
Exodus
If you did not know this here you go, Ridley Scott is bringing us a new take on the classic tale of Moses starring Christian Bale(above on a horse). This is our first look at whats to come and as of right now I can't see Bale in this movie...he just doesn't seem to fit but until I see the movie all skepticism aside.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Caesar pic...
Yes all, that is correct...the CGI Ape is portrayed by a man, Andy Serkis to be exact. You know Andy, the man that brought Gollum to life from the Lord of the Rings franchise and Ceasar in the first Rise of the Planet of the Apes film. This man is outstanding, he commits to his work and brings 200% every time and getting to see him while working in the above picture is pretty awesome. I can not wait for Dawn of the Apes and for this man to finally get the full recognition he deserves.
Fantasitc 4 Vs. X-Men???
There has been rumors flying around for what seems like forever now about a Fantstic 4/X-Men team up/Vs. movie coming...now the question is can this happen/will this happen? WIth Fox about to release X-Men: Days Of Future Past this summer and The Fantastic Four the next I suppose it could happen but that...I can't see with the current state of X-Men. We’ve known that Mark Millar and Simon Kinberg have been engaging with Fox braintrust about developing the Fantastic Four and X-Men cinematic universes. But some digging by Latino Review uncovers Millar’s earlier quotes about the possibility of a crossover(this was quiet awhile ago) where they claim that it’s a pipe dream. Of course, these quotes are from August, long before Sony made their ambitious SpiderMan plans, and Millar has been known to stretch the truth regarding movies derived from his material: he’s spouted on and on about high level talent attached to adaptations of Nemesis and Superior, which never materialized. And while he is a "creative consultant" for Fox, back in March, X-Men: Days Of Future Past director Bryan Singer claimed he had never spoken to him...So I am going to have to say this will not and could not happen.
That is all I have for now but keep checking back for news, reviews, and trailers. Also feel free to follow me and leave comments below about movies or TV shows you want reviewed! Catch ya later!
