The Railway Man
The Railway Man is based of a biography written by the WW 2 survivor adapted for film by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Paterson. The film and book follow Eric Lomax and his wife on a journey through the 9 realms of hell, going from a soldier, to a prisoner of war working on the Japanese railway known to some as Death Railway and to others by Thai-Burma railway, and back home to his wife where he fights the nightmares and memories of what happened to him. The cast includes the talents of; Colen Firth, Nicole Kidman, Jeremy Irvine, Stellan Skarsgard, and Japanese movie star Hiroyuki Sanada(known for his recent role in The Wolverine. The first trailer that was released was over seas in the UK, it seems to follow Lomax more than anything, showing his troubles with various memories and how they affected him after the war.
Where as the US trailer release follows Lomax's wife more and shows her course to help her husband through his nightmares.
The cast attached to this movie is first rate, the trailers for this are powerful, emotional, give you a great sense of the film and wanting to see it. It was released in Australia on 26th of December 2013, and I am hoping we will get it here soon.
