WARNING, POSSIBLE SPOILERS!
So first lets talk about what the film is about, the movie is a remake of an older movie with the same which is a originally a book. Which follows one of the most interesting characters ever put to paper and on screen, as well as his Romeo and Juliet love affair with a woman he met in the past. This woman's cousin(Tobey Maguire) gets pulled into the mix to help Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, to help reunite the two. From there the drama piles high and the Shakespeare tragedy starts to rear its head.
The first 30-40 min of the movie honestly...Kind of sucked. It had a weird feeling to it that just left me out of the film, was hard to get into. Towards the middle though, the characters started to get interesting, easy to relate to, and became more engaging to me. The story really did have a Romeo and Juliet type of feel to it, with and at times it worked well for me, and other not as much. I did actually really like the ending, even thought it was tragic, it combined with the increasingly better middle certainly helped make me enjoy the movie a little more. I still have to say with honestly, that this movie just was not for me. Even though it got better, I still can only stay in a middle ground on how it left me. I have to give it a 5/10....it was not a bad movie(long), but it was not a great movie either. I did really like DiCaprio, he was the best part of the whole film. So now that you have heard my opinion, I want to hear what you thought of this. Maybe you saw something I did not, maybe you agree with me, let me know below!!
