Elementary Season 1 Review!

Firstly, Elementary is a modern take on the classic Sherlock Holmes. It takes place in New York where recovering drug addict Sherlock meets Joan Watson, an ex-medical surgeon turned sober companion. Together they solve crimes with the New York Police department. There are several nods to the books regarding certain characters such as Moriarty, Irene Adler and Inspector Lestrade. For the most part its your typical cop drama, but the dialog is incredibly funny and witty. Plus with Sherlock being British you get some nice British quips that if your not paying attention to go right over your head. The way he solves crimes and interacts with people is very similar to the Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr but with much more character. Watson is played by Lucy Lui in this reimagining of the Sherlock characters and she does not disappoint, the chemistry between Sherlock actor Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Lui is part of what makes the show very enjoyable to watch. Hard to give much more than that without spoiling the season so, yeah, Season 1 Elementary definitely worth watching if your looking for a cop drama with great dialog, interesting characters, unique twists and turns and of course a new view on the classic Sherlock characters.
