46 year old actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, was found dead in his New York City apartment in West Village at around 11 AM this morning of what seems to be a drug over-dose. Hoffman was found alone by a friend in the bathroom with a needle in his arm, according to reports online. Hoffman had struggled with drug problems in the past but has been reportedly sober for 23 years. Until recently in 2012 when he began to relapse. He checked himself into an East-Coast rehab facility for heroine in May 2013 according to TMZ. Hoffman is survived by his children, Tullulah, Cooper, and Willa Hoffman as well as his partner Mimi O'Donnell.
Hoffman was a fantastic actor and he will be missed, he was nominated for the Academy Award 4 times during his career, winning once for his role in In Cold Blood. His most recent work is in the ever growing Hunger Games films in which is was currently in the middle of shooting. His character, Plutarch Heavensbee, is an important one for the final book Mockingjay which is what they are working on so his somber and untimely passing will have quiet the ripple effect much like Paul Walkers passing.
My personal condolences go out to Hoffmans family and friends as well as my thanks to him for the work he has given us through the years.
